Value Drawing
I think that the 8' by 8' box represents the best rendering of a wide range in values. This is because you can clearly identify the lights and dark's in the artwork. You can see the sharpie values and textures. I enjoyed using the oil pastels the best because they were fun and messy. The oil pastel value square is most interesting because the values blend very well together and you can clearly see the texture of the piece. This drawing reflects my personal style because it is messy and creative. I like having that messy look. I do think I was successful in the execution of this project because the point was to reflect the values of the image as well as you could. I think I did that pretty well. I learned from this project that values really make up a piece of art, without values there would be no piece of art. If I did this project again I would have made my values stand out more to define the the seashell. Therefore, I would make my lights and dark's more intense.
Negative Space Drawing
My negative space drawing relates to many of the elements and principles of art. I have great value, texture, color, line, and shape. My value goes from light blue to dark blue. By doing this I added more water to the color or less water to the color. My texture almost appears as if it is rough. Using my lines I made I created a scaly texture. I have great color as well. I used cool colors in my art. I used curved lines to make the texture. Those lines are thick as well. I have geometric shapes in my artwork. The shaping made the background look like scales almost. I have many principles of art in my artwork as well. I have rhythm, movement, variety, balance, and unity. Using value, I have a rhythm in my artwork. I repeat value over and over in my artwork. Using shape I also created movement in my artwork. The circle I made repeat over and over. I also create variety in my artwork as well. By using different values I created variety. There are dark blues and light blues. I created an informal balance in my artwork by having different sizes in the circles I made. The circles are big and small. Unity occurs because everything fits together as a whole. All the lines, shapes, colors, textures, and values fit together to form one unit.
